Temple University Hospital is a 721 bed tertiary and quaternary care center handling over 330,000 outpatient visits, over 36,000 admissions, and 3,000 births per year. TUH includes a level 1 trauma center, burn center, and one of the region’s busiest emergency department. It is home to advanced specialty care services including the Heart and Vascular institute, Temple Lung Center, and robust transplant service that performs thoracic and abdominal organ transplants. The hospital serves as a teaching hospital to every major specialty and primary care field. In addition, the Temple health system is associated with Temple's medical school, dental school, podiatry school, nursing school, and physician assistant school.

Interventional radiology at TUH provides highly specialized care using the most cutting-edge technology and innovative procedures. The IR department has evolved over the years and continues to be a leader in the field of IR as the specialty has rapidly changed. There is a strong relationship with nearly every specialty in the hospital as interventional radiology provides care to patients in essentially every department. Our experienced fellowship trained board-certified faculty provide advanced and novel therapies at the forefront of the field.

The IR department is comprised of:

  • 4 dedicated IR suites including a new state of the art Phillips unit installed in 2020.
  • A dedicated IR CT scanner with CT fluoroscopy directly across the hall, recently installed in 2019.
  • 5 ultrasound machines dedicated for IR procedures.
  • 13 bed IR holding area for pre and post procedure care
  • Dedicated IR clinic space for outpatient consults and follow ups
