Welcome to the Urology Residency at Temple

As a proud graduate of this program, I can say with confidence that the training experience at Temple is second to none. Our residency offers an unparalleled combination of surgical volume, clinical complexity, faculty mentorship, and institutional support—ensuring that our graduates are fully prepared to lead in the field of urology.

Temple Urology is on the cutting edge across all domains of urology, with nationally recognized experts in urologic oncology, reconstructive urology (male and female), prosthetic urology, robotics, endourology, and transgender reconstructive surgery. Our Fox Chase-Temple Urologic Institute provides a unique, fully integrated clinical and academic experience, combining the strengths of Temple University Hospital and Fox Chase Cancer Center to offer world-class care and research opportunities.

A Truly Comprehensive Urology Experience

Few programs can match our case volume, breadth, and diversity of training. Our residents gain hands-on experience in open surgery, laparoscopy, and robotics, covering the full spectrum of urology:

  • Urologic Oncology
  • Reconstructive and Traumatic Urology
  • Prosthetic Urology
  • Endourology & Stone Disease
  • Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery / Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
  • Andrology & Male Infertility
  • Transgender Reconstructive Surgery & Care
  • Neurourology & Voiding Dysfunction
  • Pediatric Urology

Our residents train at multiple high-volume clinical sites, providing a mix of academic, tertiary, and community-based training:

  • Temple University Hospital – High-volume exposure to reconstruction, oncology, general urology, FPMRS, neurourology, and trauma.
  • Fox Chase Cancer CenterA nationally renowned cancer center offering advanced robotic, open, and multidisciplinary cancer care.
  • Temple University Hospital at Jeanes – Focused training in prostate enucleation, prosthetic urology, and urologic oncology.
  • Temple Health – Chestnut Hill – Immersive exposure to Aquablation, advanced robotics, and endourology.
  • St. Christopher’s Hospital for ChildrenA top-tier pediatric urology experience, covering congenital and acquired pediatric conditions.

Institutional Support & Program Growth

At Temple, Urology leads the way—in surgical volume, institutional leadership, and education. Few programs can claim the level of institutional backing we have, ensuring continued growth and investment in our training, research, and patient care.

Our residency program has undergone dramatic expansion. When I graduated in 2013, we trained just two residents per year. Today, we have expanded to four per year, and given our volume and faculty strength, we could easily train five per year.

A Culture of Excellence & Innovation

Beyond surgical training, we take pride in our tight-knit faculty and resident camaraderie, ensuring a mentorship-driven, collaborative learning environment. Our program is also research-intensive, with active publication and leadership in major urologic journals and clinical trials across all subspecialties.

At Temple, we are proud of our legacy, excited for our future, and committed to training the next generation of urologic leaders. If you are looking for a program that offers high-volume surgery, world-class mentorship, and a culture of excellence, you will find it here.
