Residency Program

A Message from Jack Mydlo, MD

Professor and Chair, Department of Urology

The Department of Urology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine has national and international experts dealing with both benign and oncologic urology. We are fortunate to have fellowship trained urologists in truly all aspects of urology including; pediatrics, reconstruction, oncology, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, endourology, andrology/male infertility, gender affirming surgery and neurourology. Our program has undergone significant changes in the past year with the addition of six high-volume urologists and a new rotation site. Starting in 2023, we have expanded our residency by increasing our class from three to four residents per year.

Our residency program consists of four unique silos each offering different expertise and practice styles:

  • Temple University Hospital – Reconstruction/Oncology/General/GAS/Neurourology
  • Fox Chase Cancer Center – Oncology
  • Fox Chase Cancer Center/Jeanes Hospital/Chestnut Hill Hospital– Reconstruction/FPMRS/Endourology/General
  • St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children – Pediatrics (Private Practice)

We have a combined faculty of 25, mostly all of whom are fellowship trained in some of the finest programs in the country: Johns Hopkins, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Baylor, UCSF, UT Southwestern, Vanderbilt, Yale, and Cornell.

Our residents are accepted to some of the finest fellowships in the country, including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Duke University, Mayo Clinic, UTSW, MD Andersen Cancer Center, USC, and the Cleveland Clinic. We also graduate residents who are offered private practice positions with very prestigious groups both locally and nationally.

As a clinical department, our goal is to provide the best urological health care possible and to educate our residents and our patients on how to maintain that care. As a residency program, our goal is to make sure that each resident has excellent training in the art and science of urology, so that they are very competitive out in the academic world as well as the private practice market.

We are proud of our department and our residency program, and are looking to expand and improve each year into something even better.

Sincerely,
Jack Mydlo, MD, MBA, FACS
