A Message from Gil Yosipovitch, MD
Professor and Chair, Department of Dermatology
Director, Temple Itch Center
Welcome to the Department of Dermatology at Temple University School of Medicine. We are dedicated to providing excellent patient care, conducting ground-breaking investigational research, and offering exceptional training for the next generations of physicians.
At Temple, patients with all types of skin conditions have access to the latest medical and surgical dermatologic treatment options, as well as the opportunity to enroll in therapeutic clinical trials. We practice at several locations including the Temple Health Center City office located in downtown Philadelphia. We also work in collaboration with the Department of Dermatology at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
In addition, our faculty dermatologists are committed to the highest levels of medical and scientific discovery and the department benefits from their world-renowned expertise and contributions to the field.
Seeking to reap the clinical benefits of dermatologic research, we place great emphasis and interest in translational medicine—the process of turning scientific findings into new forms of diagnosis and treatment. The department is currently engaged in a variety of innovative clinical trials that will help advance understanding of many common and complex skin diseases, as well as uncover new treatments and therapies for a variety of conditions and in particular on chronic itch. Our researchers and investigations are supported by the National Institutes of Health, national associations and foundations, as well as private industry.
The Temple Itch Center was recently featured in The New York Times. Read the article entitled, "Itching: More Than Skin-Deep," which highlights our research efforts in the area of chronic itch.
This is an exciting period of expansion for Temple Dermatology, as our highly experienced team is committed to providing superior educational opportunities for research and clinical care. We look forward to establishing a residency program that will build upon Temple University School of Medicine’s rich history of educational excellence, and empower the nation’s future dermatologists to rise to the challenges of an ever changing healthcare system.
Thank you for your interest in our department.
Sincerely,
Gil Yosipovitch, MD
