Gordon Morewood, MD, Named Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia at Temple and Chief Quality Officer for Temple University Physicians
Gordon Morewood, MD, has been appointed Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia at Temple University Hospital, and Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at Temple University School of Medicine. He will also serve as Chief Quality Officer for Temple University Physicians.
Dr. Morewood specializes in anesthetic care for cardiac surgery. His research interests include systems response to human error and organizational accidents, as well as business model innovation in healthcare.

Dr. Morewood comes to Temple from Hahnemann University Hospital where he was Director of the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, and Director of Safety, Quality and Compliance. He was also a Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. He has also served as Director of Cardiac Anesthesia at Presbyterian Medical Center and an attending anesthesiologist at Bryn Mawr Hospital and Doylestown Hospital.
Dr. Morewood earned his medical degree from Queen's University School of Medicine in Canada and completed an anesthesiology residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He later completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography and serves as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology.
