The Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center is an ideal environment for training and professional development for predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows. We focus on basic training in the following areas:

  • Biochemistry and physiology of platelets.
  • Biochemistry and molecular biology of coagulation factors.
  • Physiology and cell biology of vessel wall cells.

Some of our primary faculty members also have secondary appointments in other centers, allowing cross-training across multiple disciplines, and utilization of the resources and facilities of multiple centers.

Temple University’s Health Sciences Campus, which includes Temple University Hospital (TUH), offers a unique training environment for potential translational investigators in hemostasis and thrombosis. With Dr. Kunapuli as Director and Dr. Rao as Co-Director, there is frequent interaction and collaboration among research scientists and clinicians across Temple University. Students benefit greatly from having access to a wide range of training opportunities in various facilities.

Because Philadelphia is a major center for thrombosis research, we are able to maximize discoveries with other institutions to improve patient care. We collaborate with faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Thomas Jefferson University, and Drexel University.
