Meredith A. Brisco, MD, MSCE, FACC Joins Temple’s Department of Cardiology

Meredith A. Brisco, MD, MSCE, FACC, has been appointed Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM), and attending physician at Temple University Hospital.

Board-certified in Cardiology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Brisco specializes in advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. Her research interests include cardiorenal interactions in advanced heart failure patients and patients with mechanical circulatory support.  She is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health to examine the mechanistic and physiologic changes in renal function in patients with left ventricular assist devices, and plans to continue this research at LKSOM.

Dr. Brisco earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and completed an Internal Medicine Residency and Medicine Research Fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/ Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She also completed a Cardiology Fellowship and Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Fellowship at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, Dr. Brisco earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania. 

Prior to joining Temple, Dr. Brisco was an Assistant Professor of Medicine and attending physician at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is a member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, American Heart Association Council on Epidemiology and Prevention, and Heart Failure Society of America. Dr. Brisco is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
