Dianne Soprano, PhD, Honored with Temple University’s “Outstanding Faculty Service Award”
Dianne R. Soprano, PhD, Professor of Biochemistry, Interim Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Associate Dean for the Graduate and MD/PhD Programs at Temple University School of Medicine, has been named the School of Medicine’s recipient of this year’s “Outstanding Faculty Service Award” from Temple University. The fourth annual awards brunch was held November 12 at Temple’s Alter Hall. Dr. Soprano was one of 20 Temple faculty members to be honored at the brunch.
The Outstanding Faculty Service Award “recognizes faculty service contributions and highlights the importance of faculty participation in the governance of Temple University.” Among other accomplishments, Dr. Soprano was honored for her efforts in expanding the MD/PhD program and in completely redesigning the graduate programs at the School of Medicine to create a new, interdisciplinary umbrella program in Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Soprano has been a faculty member at Temple since 1987.
“Dr. Soprano has shown true dedication to the mission of Temple University and the School of Medicine,” said Arthur M. Feldman, MD, PhD, who attended the brunch, and is Executive Dean of Temple University School of Medicine. “She has served Temple University with great distinction, and is an invaluable member of the faculty of the School of Medicine. Dr. Soprano is very deserving of this award and we are very proud of her.”
