Dr. Michael Camilleri Named 2018 Robert S. Fisher, MD Visiting Lecturer

News April 12, 2018

Temple Health’s section of Gastroenterology (GI) welcomed the distinguished Dr. Michael Camilleri (pictured center), Professor of Medicine, Pharmacology, and Physiology at the Mayo Clinic as the lecturer for our 2018 Robert S. Fisher, MD Visiting Lectureship in GI Motility.  As a clinical and thought leader in the field of Gastroenterology, we were honored to have Dr. Camilleri give not one, but two lectures during his time with us. They were entitled:

“Nuances in Gastroparesis: Lessons Over the Years”

“Opioids and the GI tract: What They Do; How to Treat”

These are undoubtedly timely topics in the field of GI, and to have a physician-researcher like Dr. Camilleri visit Temple to share his insights and approaches was enriching for all involved. He spent valuable time with our GI residents and fellows, teaching and discussing novel approaches to care.

Initiatives like this lectureship speak to and support the heart of academic medicine. It allows faculty to hone our science and our craft as well as gives the next generation of physicians the opportunity to connect with leaders in the field. The Robert S. Fisher, MD Lectureship is an incredible value-add to the corpus of the GI section and continues to elevate our profile in the field of gastroenterology.
