News November 14, 2018

Lisa Rae, MD, FACS, has been appointed Director of the Temple Burn Center and Associate Professor of Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. Prior to joining Temple, Dr. Rae was an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Burn Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was also Director of the hospital’s Burn Surgical Fellowship program.

Dr. Rae earned her medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed her surgical residency at Georgetown University Hospital. She completed a burn surgery fellowship and a trauma and surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Washington’s Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, and is board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. She also serves as National Faculty for the Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) committee of the American Burn Association.

The Temple Burn Center has become the region’s largest and most trusted intensive-care unit dedicated to burn patients, treating several hundred inpatients each year. As its new director, Dr. Rae leads talented interdisciplinary care teams of physicians, registered nurses, occupational and physical therapists, dietitians, social workers and burn technicians to deliver specialized and highly sophisticated treatment to bring healing and comfort to profoundly injured patients with burn injuries. The Center’s location at a major academic medical center with a Level 1 Trauma Center gives burn patients an added measure of confidence that they are getting best-practice, evidence-based care.
