    Dr. Leah Croll Provides Perspective to ABC News and the Philadelphia Inquirer on the Recovery Process from a Stroke

    Leah Croll, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided perspective to ABC News on the recovery process from a stroke after Pennsylvania U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman sustained a stroke in May. Dr. Croll discussed cognitive assessments and reiterated that each patient is different and only they and their physicians can judge their fitness for work.

    Dr. Daniel Salerno Discusses Long COVID and Its Disproportionate Impact on Philadelphia’s Black and Latinx Communities with Kensington Voice

    Daniel A. Salerno, MD, MS, Associate Professor of Thoracic Medicine & Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Director of Critical Care Services in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit at Temple University Hospital, spoke with Kensington Voice for an article about long COVID and its disproportionate impact on Philadelphia’s Black and Latinx communities. The Temple Lung Center manages a Post-COVID Recovery Clinic in which the center’s pulmonologists provide medical care and referrals to other specialists within Temple Health if necessary.

    Some honors are “awards for participation.” Other honors, like the designation Master Surgeon Educator, are extremely difficult to attain. There are only 128 Master Surgeon Educators in the world – and one of them is Amy J. Goldberg, MD, FACS, Interim Dean at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine and Temple University Health System’s Surgeon-in-Chief.

    Healio Pulmonology Highlights New Temple-Led Study on Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in Pregnancy

    Healio Pulmonology highlighted a new Temple-led study on pulmonary arterial hypertension in pregnancy, which showed that maternal-fetal mortality can be reduced to zero through a patient-tailored management effort focused on optimizing right heart function prior to delivery. The retrospective, observational study, which was published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease, included seven pregnancies in six women with pulmonary hypertension. All of the pregnancies had excellent outcomes, with 100 percent survival for mothers and infants. The Healio Pulmonology article included comments from Anjali Vaidya, MD, FACC, FASE, FACP, Professor of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University; Co-Director of the Temple Heart & Vascular Institute’s Pulmonary Hypertension, Right Heart Failure & CTEPH/PTE Program; and lead author on the study.
