Andrea Lubitz

Dr. Andrea L Lubitz completed her general surgery residency in 2020. She spent two years performing research in Dr. Marla Wolfson and Dr. Lars Ola Sjoholm's lab investigating the effects of Inhaled Nitric Oxide on right heart failure in a trauma pneumonectomy model. She also spent time working with Dr. Henry Pitt assessing the ACS NSQIP Risk Calculator, creating aspiration risk score models and interventions and categorizing procedures performed at the end of life. During her research time, Dr. Lubitz pursued her Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Biostatics and Epidemiology from the Temple University College of Public Health.  Dr. Lubitz’s research has led to numerous presentations at regional and national meetings, for which she won the AAST Resident Research Competition in 2016 and won 2nd place for Outstanding Podium Presentation at the Philadelphia Academy of Surgery Annual Resident Research Competition in 2018. Her work has been published in journals such as the Journal of the American College of Surgeons and Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. Dr. Lubitz is currently a fellow in Vascular Surgery at Temple University Hospital and plans to pursue a career in academic Vascular Surgery.

Patrick McGovern

Dr. Patrick McGovern completed his general surgery residency in 2020 after spending two years performing research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. While there, he spent his time investigating congenital heart disease and extreme prematurity using the artificial womb, as well as fetal bone marrow transplantation for congenital hematologic disorders. Dr. McGovern is interested in preventing neurologic injuries in relation to pediatric surgical disease; his research has led to numerous presentations and awards at regional, national, and international meetings (including the American Pediatric Surgical Association and the Society for Thoracic Surgeons), as well as publications in journals such as Nature Communications, the Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and The Journal of Pediatric Surgery. Dr. McGovern is currently a fellow in Pediatric Surgical Critical Care at Boston Children’s Hospital and will be starting a Pediatric Surgery fellowship at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2021. He plans to pursue a career in academic Pediatric Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
