OR Room - TUHThe Temple Neurosurgery Residency Program is based primarily at Temple University Hospital, with residents spending time at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for Pediatric Neurosurgery training. While on the Neuro-oncology rotation (during the PGY 3 and PGY 6 years of training) residents will spend time in a community hospital setting at Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus.

The Neurosurgery Inpatient Services are located primarily within the Boyer Pavilion at Temple University hospital. The Boyer pavilion is a newly renovated hospital that serves primarily Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Orthopedic Surgery. The 3rd floor houses our state-of-the-art, ten bed, dedicated Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU). Located on the same floor are five operating rooms, two of which are dedicated to Neurosurgery, and a third is shared between the Neurosurgery and Orthopedic services. The 7th floor of the Pavilion houses a dedicated Neurosurgical Step Down Unit as well as floor beds. Our private outpatient clinic is located on the 5th floor.

The Neurosurgery and Neurology Outpatient Services are also located together on the 5th floor of the Boyer Pavilion Building at Temple University Hospital. This floor houses our clinic space for the weekly resident clinic.

Continuous EEG monitoring, transcranial Doppler, SPECT, fMRI and the entire spectrum of routine radiological studies are readily available. There are two designated neurosurgical operating rooms that are fully equipped with all of the latest neurosurgical equipment including two new Zeiss microscopes, frame-based and frameless stereotaxy, BrainLab software and hardware, neurophysiological monitoring capability and intraoperative angiography. In addition, the department also makes use of the 3T MRI, the Gamma Knife system and the Elekta linear accelerator at TUHS.

A residents' library adjoins the NSICU. In addition to the latest textbooks and journals, the library contains a state-of-the-art computer set-up for multi-media presentations.
