We hope that your Temple experience is an excellent one that will allow you to see the many exciting aspects of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. In order to have the best possible time here, please note the following:
Our Internal Medicine Residency coordinators are in charge of the administrative aspects of the interview day. Please feel free to contact them as needed. If you are arriving from out of town and need a place to stay, please see our list of hotel accomodations in the area (PDF).
The Night Before
If you would like to meet the residents in an informal setting, we encourage you to meet us for dinner in Center City (Downtown Philadelphia) on the night before your interview. Applicants who are invited and then schedule their interview will receive a confirmation email through ERAS (typically around one week prior to the interview date) with details about the dinner location and time. Please let us know if you will be able to attend so we can get an accurate head count. Attendance is optional, and we do not take into account whether you choose to come to dinner when determining rankings. It is solely meant as another opportunity for you to get to know our residents and ask about our program.
For a map and directions to the Health Sciences Center campus, please visit Map & Directions.
If you are driving, we will provide parking for you at our Ontario West parking garage. We are pleased to offer you free parking, but in order for us to offer this, you must print this parking pass (PDF) prior to arrival and show it to the parking attendant.
The Interview Day
The interview day begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Student Faculty Center (SFC) with breakfast and an introduction from our program director and our chairman.
During the interview day, you will get a chance to learn about our program from our key faculty, chief residents and residents. You will have a tour of the facility and a chance to see where and how our teaching is done. You will also have an interview with one of our faculty members so that we may get to know you better. It is not our philosophy to conduct stress-inducing interviews; we view the interview as a time for you to meet a potential future colleague. Please feel free to ask questions about the program at any time throughout your day here. If you should happen to have questions after you get home, please send them along to any of our administrators and they will be forwarded to the appropriate person.
A continental breakfast and buffet lunch will be provided for you. These are good times to meet our current residents and learn even more about us. Your day will end no later than 2:30 p.m.
Second Look Opportunities
We stand with the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) and their recommendations regarding second visits. Our Internal Medicine Residency Program does not take second visits into account when determining an applicant’s ranking. Thus, second visits are not required, and we do not encourage applicants to come for a second look “to show interest in the program.” That being said, if you feel that a second visit would help you in determining your own rank list decision, it can be arranged. Please contact our GME Administrative Staff, and we can help you arrange a visit.
