Interview Season

Welcome to Temple University Hospital’s Virtual Interview Season 2021-22

Innovation is in the air at Temple Anesthesiology!

Welcome to the Temple University Hospital Anesthesiology Residency Program.  As you are likely aware, Temple University Hospital is the number one lung transplant center in the nation, the busiest trauma center in the region, and provides a sophisticated array of quaternary referral services from cutting edge cancer care to the latest in robotic surgery procedures.  We are a growing residency program within a thriving anesthesiology department and are committed to the development of exceptional physician leaders.

Many of you have already reached out to us to express your interest in our program.  This interview season, we invite you to participate in a re-imagined virtual application experience consisting of several distinct components.

First, we have included a variety of information that will assist you in getting to know both Temple University Healthcare System and our department much better. Please take your time to review the videos and webpages in order to learn what it means to be “Temple made.”

Second, we will be holding a series of town hall sessions with the Program Director, the Chair, and the Chief Residents. These will be held on specific dates throughout the winter, typically at 7:00 PM EST to allow everyone across the many time zones to attend. Each session will provide a live Question & Answer format so that you can gain some familiarity with our leadership team and the major characteristics of our program.

Third, we will also be hosting Meet & Greet luncheons with our residents on multiple days. We encourage you to join one of these Zoom sessions for an opportunity to see and hear from our current resident cohort.

Finally, in this year in which incredible possibilities abound, we ask you to step completely outside of the box and to select your own faculty interviewer according to their areas of clinical and personal interest, as well as your own.

  1. We have provided a list of this year’s Interview Committee as well as our CA-1 residents with short biographical sketches for each. If you would like to have direct one-on-one contact with one or more members of our faculty we encourage you to submit a 60 to 90 second video entitled “Why Temple Rocks.”  via the free CloudApp  You should include a brief explanation of why you are specifically interested in Temple, as well as the top three faculty interviewers with whom you would like to speak and why. These video messages will become an integral component of your application file.
  2. Although we prefer to receive a video, we recognize that some applicants are more persuasive in the written art. For those of you so inclined, please send a two-paragraph statement to the email address below, in lieu of a video.
  3. Upon review of your completed file, select applicants will be invited to virtually meet with one of their preferred faculty at a scheduled date and time. Please send your video, written message or any other supplemental material and questions to .

For the current season our program will not be offering a traditional “interview day”. Our primary basis for selection of applicants will be your ERAS application and demonstrated interest in the program.  Interest in the program will be defined by your attendance at the varied sessions we are hosting as well as the short video/paragraphs.  By introducing these changes, we hope to make the application process as useful and as enjoyable as possible for both our applicants and our staff.

Applicants who satisfy our rigorous review process will be ranked in the 2022 Match.
