About Dr. Hanrahan:

Dr. Hanrahan is a PGY-3 research resident in General Surgery at Temple University. She will be performing research with the Burn Surgery Team. Before medical school, she worked in industry as an electrical engineer at Eaton Corporation and performed research in drug discovery at Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson. She completed the NIDDK Medical Student Research Program in Diabetes at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is undecided on her future specialty choice, but is interested in Trauma and Critical Care.

About Dr. Haslam:

Dr. Haslam is a surgical resident on hiatus, currently completing a Hospice & Palliative Medicine fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. She is hoping to integrate her interest in palliative care with a future career in trauma surgery and surgical critical care. She is participating in research regarding palliative care in burn surgery, and is also interested in caring for patients with substance use disorders, narrative medicine, and trauma informed care.

Dr. HoSang is currently a 2nd year research resident, focusing on multiple topics within the fields of breast and endocrine surgery. She plans to pursue fellowships in both Breast Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery. Her other interests include medical student and resident education, resident wellness, accessibility to contraception, and barriers to care in underserved populations.

About Dr. Papai:

Dr. Papai is a research resident. She is currently a fellow at Fox Chase Cancer Center conducting research in surgical oncology. She has a clinical interest in optimizing patients for high-risk surgeries and is developing a prehabilitation program for the patients at Fox Chase in addition to outcome research in melanoma, sarcoma, and pancreatic cancer.

About Dr. Anita Wamakima:

Dr. Wamakima is a PGY-3resident. She is currently in her second year of her dedicated research years focusing on firearm violence harms, and prevention, in addition to research supporting trauma-informed care. She also is completing her master’s in public health. She is interested in a career in trauma, surgical critical care and emergency surgery. Her other interests include community engagement, resident advocacy and medical policy.

About Dr. Vega:

Dr. Vega is a PGY-3 resident. Prior to residency, he completed a master's degree focused on host-microbiome interactions. He hopes to find a way to apply this towards a career in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He is currently working with the Temple Plastics and Burn Surgery teams to advance critical care medicine and close racial disparity gaps in healthcare while pursuing near and far conferences to network and explore.
