Glenn Gerhard, MD, Chair, Department of Translational Research

The Department of Translational Research fosters a culture of education, mechanistic and translational research, and service to the institution and community.

A chief mission of our Department is to educate future generations of medical, dental, podiatry, and physician assistant students to become competent practitioners, critical thinkers, and future leaders in their fields.  We are passionate educators and mentors, deeply committed to empowering the next generation of clinicians and scientists. The diverse research interests of faculty members in the Department create an intellectually stimulating environment for students at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels.

All research faculty members participate in the interdisciplinary Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program.  Our faculty collaborate with members of other Departments and Centers at Katz, Schools at Temple University and within the affiliated Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple Health.  The Department also serves the worldwide scientific community through leadership roles and participation in governmental, professional, and industrial organizations.

Moreover, Department faculty are committed to service through hosting undergraduate students for research and through community involvement to promote science and health awareness.  As Chair, I encourage you to learn more about the educational and research opportunities in the Department of Translational Research.
