Requirements for Accelerated 3 + 2 Program

Students must meet all the following requirements: 

  • Students will have completed at least, 8 hours of biology, 8 hours of general chemistry, 8 hours of organic chemistry, Biochemistry, Mammalian Anatomy, Mammalian Physiology, Statistics, Psychology, and Medical Terminology. Additionally, they are required to complete two or more courses from the following list: Genetics, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, or Cell Biology. All required coursework should be completed by the end of fall semester of junior year with the exception of Medical Terminology and Molecular Biology.
  • All math and science prerequisite coursework must be taken at Temple University’s Main Campus during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • The undergraduate student must declare a Biology major in the College of Science and Technology before the completion of their first-year.
  • Eligible students will be nominated for consideration by the Director of Pre-Health Advising. Nominations must be received by the LKSOM PA Program Admissions by January of the calendar year of anticipated matriculation to LKSOM PA Program.
  • To be eligible for consideration by the LKSOM PA Program Admissions Committee, a student must have: a) Fulfilled PA prerequisites using no more than 8 Advanced Placement credits; b) Completed at least 20 hours of PA shadowing experiences; c) Completed at least 400 patient contact hours; d) Completed at least 50 hours of community-service activities/ volunteer activities; e) Demonstrated the personal attributes, attitudes and behaviors essential to the PA profession; f) Complete all paperwork required for matriculation.
  • Students must be interviewed and considered for acceptance by the LKSOM PA Program Admissions Committee. An automatic invitation for interview will be considered if the Temple University undergraduate applicant meets the following criteria: Earned (on the 4.0 grading system) the following minimum grade point averages at the University with no grade less than B- in the required sciences and no repeated coursework, Basic Science Core GPA 3.6, Science GPA 3.6, and Overall GPA 3.6.
  • Students will submit an application through the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA) by the end of October of junior year.
  • Students must receive a supportive letter of recommendation from the Temple University Pre-Professional Health Advising Evaluation Committee.
  • Eligible Temple University undergraduate students can receive conditional acceptance to the LKSOM PA Program based upon the anticipated completion of the above requirements before April 1 of the admission year to the PA Program.
