A Message from Michael Weinik, DO
Interim Chair and Professor, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Associate Chair, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Temple University Hospital
Medical Director, Temple Spine Center

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is designated as an academic department of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and a clinical unit of Temple University Hospital. In addition to 16 DRG-exempt acute level rehabilitation beds at Temple University and Jeanes Hospitals, we have an active inpatient consultation service, extensive resources for outpatients, and facilities for electrodiagnostic testing and injection procedures.

The Department's offices are located within Temple University Hospital and comprise over 20,000 square feet of evaluation and treatment space with all appropriate equipment to treat various disabilities. In addition to the medical staff, there are over 39 professional staff in the physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, psychology and therapeutic recreation sections.

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is a major education center for medical students, residents, fellows, and students in the professional disciplines. The medical staff are active in presenting scholarly reports to regional and national meetings, publishing, and pursuing a variety of research projects.

The Department provides evaluation and comprehensive treatment for patients with physical impairments such as burns, nerve and musculoskeletal disorders.

Each member of our staff feels a great responsibility toward our patients and strives to make their time with us a positive experience. We are proud to say with confidence that our patients are being treated by the very best.
