RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Meagher specializes in public health ethics. She is especially interested in a One Health approach exploring the connections between environmental, animal, and human health. Her current projects include NIH-funded research on ethical, legal, and social implications of human and microbial genetics. Trained in moral philosophy, science and technology policy, and qualitative methods, she often uses a combination of these forms of analysis in her work. She is highly interested in collaboration including cross-disciplinary innovation.
Dr. Meagher is especially interested in expanding ethical frameworks to work for public and population health professionals. She collaborates regularly with clinicians in Antimicrobial Stewardship, Infection Prevention and Control, Infectious Disease, Critical Care, and Primary Care. She is also interested in patient and community engagement, including with rare disease communities and collaboration with genetic specialists and genetic counselors. She also is collaborating with colleagues in psychiatry to improving understanding of hospital climate and moral distress in the health professions.
