  • Temple University School of Medicine Ranked Fourth in Nation for Number of Applicants by US News & World Report

    Temple University School of Medicine (TUSM) has again been recognized by US News & World Report as one of the most popular medical schools in the nation in terms of applications received. TUSM received 10,980 applications for the 2013-2014 year, the fourth-highest total in the nation, up from sixth last year.
     

  • Temple’s Arthur Feldman, MD, PhD, Elected to The Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars

    Arthur M. Feldman, MD, PhD, Executive Dean of Temple University School of Medicine, was elected to membership in the prestigious Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars. The Society, established nearly 50 years ago by the Trustees of the University, honors distinguished former Johns Hopkins postdoctoral fellows and junior or visiting faculty who served at least a year at Hopkins and thereafter gained marked distinction elsewhere in their fields.

  • Temple University School of Medicine and Treatment Research Institute Approved for a Funding Award by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute

    Temple University School of Medicine and Treatment Research Institute have been approved for a more than $2 million funding award by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study the use of specialized community disease management to reduce substance use and hospital readmissions. The selected study is one of 82 proposals approved for PCORI funding last fall to advance the field of patient-centered comparative effectiveness research and provide patients with information that will help them make better-informed decisions about their care.
     

  • Gordon Morewood, MD, Named Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia at Temple and Chief Quality Officer for Temple University Physicians

    Gordon Morewood, MD, has been appointed Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia at Temple University Hospital, and Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at Temple University School of Medicine. He will also serve as Chief Quality Officer for Temple University Physicians.
     
    Dr. Morewood specializes in anesthetic care for cardiac surgery. His research interests include systems response to human error and organizational accidents, as well as business model innovation in healthcare.
     

  • 83 Temple Physicians Named Best Doctors in America®

    Temple Health is once again wellrepresented in the latest Best Doctors in America® List. Eighty-three (83) Temple physicians have been named to the "Best Doctors" list for 2014, which includes physicians that practice at Temple University Hospital, Temple University Hospital-Episcopal Campus, Jeanes Hospital, and Fox Chase Cancer Center. Only five percent of doctors in America earn a spot on the prestigious list, which is assembled by Best Doctors, Inc.® and audited and certified by Gallup®.
     

  • "Match Day" Madness at Temple University School of Medicine

    After up to 20 years of school, countless tests and more late-night study sessions than they can count, it all came down to this for 173 fourth-year Temple medical students – Match Day 2014.
     
    Held on March 21, Match Day is the day when all fourth-year medical students in the United States simultaneously open a sealed envelope and find out what hospital they "matched" with for their residencies. It's one of the most important – and emotional – days in a student’s journey to being a physician.
