The occasion marks a new phase of their curriculum. Up to this point, the students have spent all their time in a classroom digesting science-based lectures. They’ll now begin to process the many nuances of patient care by interacting with actual patients.

Speaking Ukrainian, German, Russian, and English, Dr. Shevchenko uses her unique talents to bridge gaps in patient care and mentorship, making her a leader in fostering inclusion and empathy within the medical field.
Launched in 2019, the program aims to expose Philadelphia high school students, particularly those from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds to a variety of medical professions.
New Board of Visitors Chair Dr. Len Jacob credits much of his success to creating a culture of inclusivity. It will also be a central component of his work to advance Dean Goldberg’s priorities and the school’s strategic plan.
