Clinical Rotations

Residents on the Temple Neurosurgery service are expected to progress through the various clinical rotations specified below. These rotations allow the resident to develop the skills and knowledge base required for the well-trained neurosurgeon.

Residents work primarily at Temple University Hospital and Jeanes Hospital/Fox Chase Cancer Center. Temple residents also spend 6 months during their PGY-4 year at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). 

Rotations

PGY-1

  • Neurology: 3 months
  • ENT/Neuroradiology/Neuropathology: 3 months
  • Neuro ICU: 6 months

PGY-2

  • Neuro ICU: 6 months
  • Cerebrovascular/Endovascular: 6 months

PGY-3

  • Neuro-Oncology: 6 months
  • Spine/Functional: 6 months

PGY-4

  • Cerebrovascular/Endovascular: 6 months
  • Pediatric Neurosurgery (CHOP): 6 months

PGY-5

  • Research: 12 months

PGY-6

  • Spine/Functional: 6 months
  • Neuro-Oncology: 6 months

PGY-7

  • Chief Resident, TUHS Neurosurgery service: 12 months
