Dr. Benjamin Krevsky Appointed Chief of Gastroenterology at Temple University Hospital

Benjamin Krevsky, MD, MPH, has been appointed Chief of the Section of Gastroenterology at Temple University Hospital (TUH). He will maintain his duties as Director of Endoscopy at TUH, and Professor of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.

Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, Dr. Krevsky earned his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati and his Master of Public Health degree at Yale University School of Medicine.  He completed an internship and residency at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY, and completed a Gastroenterology Fellowship at TUH.

“I am pleased to announce Dr. Krevsky’s appointment,” says Joseph Y. Cheung, MD, PhD, FACP, FAHA, FCPP, Richard Laylord & Dorothy L. Evans Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at LKSOM. “Dr. Krevsky has been a part of the Temple faculty since 1984 and I am confident that with his leadership experience and expertise, he will be able to advance the clinical, educational and research missions of the Section of Gastroenterology.”

Dr. Krevsky’s clinical interests include gastrointestinal endoscopy; gastrointestinal malignancies, especially esophageal and colon cancers; motor disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, including constipation and fecal incontinence; capsule endoscopy; and hemorrhoid therapy. His research interests involved the use of laser therapy to treat Barrett’s Esophagus and esophageal cancer; uses of computers in gastroenterology; and scintigraphic techniques in studying GI motility.

“I am very enthusiastic about my appointment as Chief,” says Dr. Krevsky. “I look forward to improving access to care in gastroenterology for the community and for our referring physicians. Temple’s GI department has undergone major improvements in obtaining state-of-the-art technology over the past several years. I want to continue to build on our success, to be able to provide the best possible care for our patients and to train future generations of gastroenterologists.”

Dr. Krevsky is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American College of Physicians.
