Temple's Director of Aortic and Endovascular Surgery to Host 2nd Annual Philadelphia Cardiovascular Symposium

Grayson H. Wheatley III, MD, FACS, Associate Professor of Surgery at Temple University School of Medicine, and Director of Aortic and Endovascular Surgery at Temple University Hospital, will be serving as Conference Chairman for the upcoming International Society of Endovascular Specialists' Philadelphia Cardiovascular Symposium.

"The field is advancing so rapidly and the newest therapies are not always known. The Symposium will be an informative update on cardiovascular disease and I am pleased to be the Chairman of this extraordinary event for the second year," says Dr. Wheatley. "This year there will be more topics discussed in addition to aortic diseases, which was the main theme of last year's event."

The second annual event is designed to improve knowledge and patient outcomes in comprehensive cardiovascular therapies including endovascular and surgical techniques for aortic aneurysm and repair; structural heart disease; peripheral interventions; deep and superficial venous disease; and advanced wound care treatment.

An internationally-recognized leader in aortic surgery and endovascular therapies, Dr. Wheatley will give the opening remarks. He will also provide a presentation on ascending aortic stenting and transcatheter aortic valve replacement or TAVR. Dr. Wheatley specializes in aortic and endovascular surgery, and minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery. His research and clinical interests include aortic therapies and endovascular technologies; and quality and safety in endovascular interventions.

Other presenters include Temple's Howard A. Cohen, MD, Director of the Interventional Heart & Vascular Institute, Director of Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at Temple University Hospital, and Professor of Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine; T. Sloane Guy, MD, MBA, Chief of Robotic Surgery and Chief of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery at Temple University Hospital, and Associate Professor of Surgery at Temple University School of Medicine; Brian P. O'Neill, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine; and multiple presenters from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, October 4 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing.
