Alumni Celebrate and Reminisce at the 2017 Lewis Katz School of Medicine Reunion

News June 09, 2017

Over 400 Temple Med alumni descended on Philadelphia on May 5 and 6, 2017, for an unforgettable reunion weekend for class years ending in 2 & 7 along with the Class of 2016.

Kicking off on Friday, May 5, Temple Med took over Citizens Bank Park as the Phillies faced the Washington Nationals. The festivities included a special pre-game reception at McFadden’s Ballpark and a chance for former classmates, family, friends, students and faculty to catch up.

Also on Friday night, the 50th Reunion of the Class of 1967 gathered at the Union League of Philadelphia with the Classes of 1962, 1957 and 1952 and beyond as they celebrated their induction into the ranks of the Golden Owls.

The fun continued Saturday morning at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, with a full morning of interactive programming that included visits to the school’s Carson D. Schneck Gross Anatomy Lab for a Contemporary Anatomy Class, the William Maul Measey Institute for Clinical Simulation and Patient Safety and the Robotics Surgical Training Center, capped off with tours of the Temple Heart and Vascular Institute and the Robotics Surgery Suite at Temple University Hospital after lunch.

On Saturday evening, all reunion classes gathered for the annual Signature Reunion Celebration at the Barnes Foundation. Featuring live music, exclusive access to the galleries, a photojournalism exhibit featuring the work of current Temple Med students and the annual Alumni Awards presentation, it was a lively time to reunite with old classmates and friends at one of Philadelphia’s finest art institutions.

To date, reunion classes have collectively donated more than $1 million dollars to the medical school this year, with many of those gifts earmarked for scholarship. If you would like to make your reunion gift, please visit http://giving.temple.edu/givetomed
