Temple University Hospital Hosts Community “Health Fest” for 125th Anniversary

News April 11, 2017

As part of its 125th anniversary celebration, Temple University Hospital (TUH) announced today it will host a community “Health Fest” on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held on the first floor of the main hospital building at 3401 N. Broad Street, in the Ontario Street lobby and courtyard.

Health Fest is part of TUH’s multi-faceted anniversary campaign, commemorating 125 years of providing services to the North Philadelphia community and beyond. Health Fest will feature more than 35 health, wellness and public safety exhibitors associated with TUH. Guests will have free access to screenings and workshops, financial counseling, cooking demonstrations, food, family-friendly fun and more.

“Temple University Hospital and our community are practically one and the same,” said Dr. Verdi DiSesa, president and CEO of Temple University Hospital. “We’ve been collaborating with and supporting each other for 125 years. Health Fest is a terrific way to say thanks to our friends and neighbors—and to reaffirm our commitment to the health and well-being of the community for the next 125 years.”

Health Fest is made possible through the kindness and generosity of exhibitors, volunteers and support from the TUH Medical Staff.

Topics and offerings at the April 22 Health Fest include: blood pressure and diabetes screenings, mental health assessments, tips for foot health, addiction resources, advice for sleep disorders, nutritionists, LGBTQ health, radiology education, cancer prevention and colon wellness, financial guidance, the OBGYN’s Baby Box program, ambulance tours, fire prevention, food, face-painting and other family fun.

As part of the day’s activities, in the Erny Auditorium adjacent to Health Fest, TUH will honor Dr. Amy Goldberg and Scott Charles and the Cradle 2 Grave program they created for achieving a landmark of 10 years and serving more than 10,000 participants. TUH Medical Staff will mark Temple University Hospital’s 125th anniversary with a donation of $125,000 and local elected officials will be on hand. The Erny Auditorium programs will begin at 11 a.m. and will also feature physical and mental health panels and nutrition demonstrations throughout the day.
