Lang Medical Scholars Program

Explore the world of medicine - starting in 7th grade.

Are you curious about how the human body works? Ever imagine yourself a doctor, nurse, scientists, or healthcare hero?

The Lang Medical Scholars Program gives Philadelphia students a hands-on, six-year journey into the world of health and medicine - starting in middle school.

Every semester, we zoom in on a different body system and uncover:

  • How everything works together
  • What happens when the body system isn’t working
  • How diseases are diagnosed and treated
  • The amazing careers connected to it
  • How health issues affect our communities—and the world

Program Schedule

  • Meets two Saturdays per month, October through May from 7th through 12th grade
  • Hosted at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University
  • Small group learning with just 20 other students like you per grade

Along the way, you will:

  • Meet doctors, nurses, scientists and other healthcare professional who share their stories
  • Tour hospitals and labs to see medicine in action
  • Participate in paid summer internships in health fields
  • Participate in fun field trips that build leadership and professional skills
  • Get support with SAT prep and college applications
  • Give back through health fairs, volunteer work, and teaching your community about staying healthy
