Temple University Hospital
The parent institution of the general surgery residency is an academic medical center located on the Health Sciences Campus of Temple University in North Philadelphia. TUH provides care to the people of the North Philadelphia community and a robust referral base. TUH is home to a very active level I trauma center, a ABA certified burn center, and the busiest pulmonary transplant program in the country. In addition, TUH provides services in oncology, colorectal, endocrine, transplant, thoracic, plastic and vascular surgery.
St. Christopher's Hospital for Children
St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is a 188 bed pediatric hospital located in North Philadelphia. St. Christopher’s houses 1 of 3 level I pediatric trauma centers in the Pennsylvania and the only pediatric burn center in the area. They provide surgical services to all children from the extremely premature up to the age of 21.
Fox Chase Cancer Center
Fox Chase Cancer Center is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center located in North Philadelphia and is a part of the Temple University Health System. FCCC provides a unique opportunity for exposure to all aspects of cancer treatment and is a leader in innovative research and access to state-of-the-art technology in cancer care.
Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus
TUH-Jeanes Campus is a member of the Temple University Health System situated on the same campus as the Fox Chase Cancer Center. Their mission is to provide quality medical care to their local community. The surgical service provides exposure to general surgical, bariatric, vascular and thoracic surgery through faculty that are fully integrated into the Temple University clinical departments.
Temple Health – Chestnut Hill Hospital
Chestnut Hill will provide surgical residents with a broad-based learning experience in general surgery. Chestnut Hill Hospital is unique within the Temple University Health System. In addition to Temple teaching faculty, residents will interact with physicians from other health systems and those in a private practice setting. Chestnut Hill surgeons provide core general surgical services to their community, including laparoscopic surgery, colorectal surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, surgical oncology, breast oncology, vascular surgery and endoscopy.
Temple Women & Families
The Temple University Women and Families will ensure adequate training for the residents in the care of surgical conditions in the OB/Gyn population. Additionally, many surgical subspecialties including those in colorectal, plastic and reconstructive surgery, vascular surgery and abdominal organ transplant will be transitioning many of their outpatient surgical cases to this site.
