First-Year Rotations

Dr. Leasy The first-year rotations primarily provide residents with in-hospital training and experience in ambulatory care through longitudinal experience in the Family Medicine Clinic, which is located in Jones Hall on the Temple University Hospital – Main Campus. The academic year is divided into 4-week blocks.

  • 4 weeks of Orientation
  • 8 weeks of Adult Inpatient Medicine
  • 8 weeks of Obstetrics Labor & Delivery
  • 4 weeks of General Surgery
  • 4 weeks of MICU/CCU
  • 8 weeks of Adult Emergency Medicine
  • 4 weeks of Community Medicine
  • 4 weeks of Psychiatry
  • 4 weeks of Inpatient Pediatrics
  • 4 weeks of Elective

Second & Third-Year Rotations

The second and third-year rotations provide residents with continued ambulatory and inpatient experiences designed to advance the skills across the discipline of family medicine with more intensive experiences in the Family Medicine Clinic as well as care across the specialties. Residents will gain exposure to ambulatory procedures and develop skills to advance population health and quality improvement in the discipline.

  • 8 weeks of Adult Inpatient Medicine per PGY year
  • 4 weeks of Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • 4 weeks of Dermatology
  • 4 weeks of Geriatrics
  • 4 weeks of Ortho/Sports Medicine
  • 4 weeks of Women’s Health
  • 4 weeks of Newborn Nursery
  • 8 weeks of Ambulatory Pediatrics
  • 4 weeks of Addiction Medicine
  • 4 weeks of Public Health
  • 4 weeks of Health System Management
  • Rotations in: HIV, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology
  • 20 weeks of Electives
