The Department of Pharmacology provides excellent research opportunities in the field of opioids and other drugs of abuse, vascular biology, immunopharmacology, autonomic and cardiovascular pharmacology and cell signaling. Departmental laboratories are well equipped for the pursuit of research and our faculty members use a wide variety of contemporary methodologies to address issues in system, cellular and molecular pharmacology. The graduate and postgraduate training program in the pharmacology of drugs of abuse is nationally and internationally acclaimed, and is one of the few training programs supported by the National Institute of Drug Abuse and National Institutes of Health.
We are also nationally and internationally recognized for our educational programs. The faculty is responsible for teaching medical, dental and podiatric students. Our research faculty participate in the integrated Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program.
