Ultrasound Research

Residents and students are invited to participate in on-going studies and to initiate related investigational studies under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Costantino, Director of the Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Program.

Current studies include:

•     A randomized trial of ultrasound guided versus landmark technique for needle aspiration of suspected peritonsillar abscesses
•     A comparison of limited renal ultrasound plus Doppler ultrasound of ureteral jets versus microhematuria as a screening test for uretolithiasis in emergency department patients with suspicion of renal colic
