Residency Program Research Awards

Purpose

To provide funding for Internal Medicine Residents to develop their skills in clinical or laboratory based research, to carry out research projects, to present their research findings at scientific meetings and to publish their work.

Details

Grants will be funded up to $2000.00 to be used to support your research.

The term of the award must not extend beyond the residency training period. The beginning date for funding is July 1st, 2017 and the end date is June 30th, 2018. Interns who are awarded may apply for extension to use the funds for use during their SAR year. 

Awardees must continue to adhere to the Resident Research Curriculum guidelines.

Eligibility

Categorical Interns and Residents in good standing in the Department of Medicine are eligible.

Clinical, or Basic Science, Translational or Outcomes based research proposals are acceptable.

Research must be performed at Temple under the direction of a Temple Faculty Member.

Requirements

  • Application Deadline: April 23rd, 2017. Awards will be announced in June.
  • Two page description of your research proposal.
    • Important items to include:
      • Background/Significance
      • Specific aims/objectives
      • Planned methods
      • Your role in the project
      • References
      • An explanation of how this award will help your future career
      • Project timeline
  • Signed letter of support from your research faculty mentor.
  • An updated copy of your Curriculum Vitae and faculty mentor’s CV.
  • A general description of how you might spend the funds. Potential use of funds might include but is not limited to research supplies, reagents, temporary personnel time for data collection, data analysis costs and statistician time, poster preparation, travel expenses, and publication costs.
