About Me

Research Interests

My research focuses on cardiovascular surgery and cardiology related clinical and basic science projects that involve end-stage heart failure, ventricular assist devices, lung and heart transplantation, XVIVO lung transplantation, and cardiac assist support system development research. My interest is to constitute a quantitative cardiovascular research program that is strongly complementary to the cardiovascular surgery division, enabling highly collaborative approaches to reconstructing developmental processes. Developmental transitions will involve bench-to-bed side research studies involving animal and cellular models leading to small-to-large clinical trials.

My diverse set of disciplines including clinical trials related regulatory works and basic science related scientific knowledge will assist the division’s goals and produce innovative experimental designs and projects resulting in peer-reviewed publications and presentations. Arranging national and regional Bi-annual CME cardiovascular and transplant surgery CME events routinely at LKSOM for faculty, fellows, residents, researchers, nurses, PAs, and medical students as well as regional scientific meetings arrangements are one of the priority in my research activities. In parallel, our lab will study the end-stage heart failure model to understand the utilization of assist device and extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). The responses of VA ECMO and VV ECMO utilization in the lab will focus on innovative cardiac and respiratory support. These cross-cutting approaches to experimental developmental biology whether related with ECMO, VAD, and XVIVO would benefit from close research collaborations at LKSOM understanding niche construction of end-stage cardiovascular and pulmonary support systems. my research experiences would directly complement LKSOM cardiovascular surgery inter-disciplinary quantitative projects, by integrating clinical and basic science research in understanding of complex biological and physical phenomena at small length-scales to developmental principles. My research will provide significant opportunities for faculty, fellows, residents, post-doc fellow, and medical students. I am enthusiastic to become a part of this LKSOM faculty community.

About Me

My recent years' experiences indicate scientific output in cardiovascular surgery, transplant surgery, and other cardiology related clinical studies. I have strong background of mentoring medical students, post-doctoral fellows, residents, undergrad, and MPh students in clinical and basic research related projects. Additionally, using my scientific background and discipline, we have written protocols and applied for grants, directed towards NIH, Federal, and industry supported projects. I have supported the mechanism of arranging Bi-annual CME cardiovascular and transplant surgery events routinely at LKSOM for faculty, fellows, residents, researchers, nurses, PAs, and medical students.

I have been involved many industry projects, both basic and clinical studies, that included the followings:
