The department has major commitments in the areas of molecular, cellular, cardiovascular and neuropharmacology research. In addition, the department interacts closely with other basic science, clinical and research departments including:

  • Department of Medical Genetics and Biochemistry
  • Department of Physiology

  • Center for Substance Abuse Research
  • Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center
  • Fels Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Biology

Most modem research instrumentation and facilities are available through shared resources of the School of Medicine. These include a transgenic mouse facility and FACS analysis. The department itself has a number of core facilities, including cell culture facilities.
