About

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at Temple University has a strong tradition of providing the highest quality resident education and clinical service. The department was built under the direction of our first chairman, John Royal Moore, MD and was carried to the forefront of orthopaedic education by his successors: John W. Lachman, MD and Michael Clancy, MD, and Joseph Thoder, MD.

This is an exciting period of expansion for Temple Orthopaedics. Our faculty continues to grow at Temple University Hospital as well as at our clinical partners at the Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and Abington Memorial Hospital. This growth is being highlighted by the Department’s shift to help anchor the newly established Boyer Pavilion on the Temple University Hospital campus. As we continue to grow into the next millennium, our tradition of excellence also continues to grow stronger.
